Until my 30 something son began speaking to me about E-bikes I hadn't ever given it much thought. In fact I don't know that I was even aware of the fact that E-bikes existed. I had been happily and pretty contentedly pedaling along on my Schwinn 12-speed (circa 1986). Having maintained it well over the years I was thinking that would always be THE bike. My son mentioned that a friend of his had turned him onto an E-bike and he had purchased one for himself. I thought - cool, and went on with life and my old Schwinn. That is until he showed up at my house with his E-bike and suggested I take it for a spin. I was absolutely astonished at the stunning difference between E-bike pedal-assist technology and a "normal" bike!! Within a few weeks I was at the local bike store and purchased my Trek E-bike. I rode it daily all around town, up and down hills effortlessly and joyfully! So much fun. Rock solid machine to be sure. Looking eagerly forward to Spring/Summer 2018 to get out there once again!!
I have been a bicycle rider for 50 years. I still remember my first bike underneath the Christmas tree. Boy have things changed since then! My house sits at the top of a 500 foot hill and that last push to get home at the end of the day is a killer. It stopped me from one of my favorite activities. The amount of tech on this bike is amazing. The Bosch system does a great job of adding just the right amount of assist. I describe the feeling as having a friend give you a gentle push as you press on the pedal. There is no throttle like a motorcycle or snowmobile. The harder you press on the pedals, the more power the motor supplies. The handlebar display that comes with the system is very large and high contrast making it easy to read in the brightest sunlight. It also includes a backlight that makes it easy to read at night as well. The top and bottom of the display is set apart by inverting the text and background. It contains all of the information I expected on a high-end pedal-assist bike. The top contains shift indicators, battery level, assist mode, current power level, speed and light on. There are five different assist modes: None, Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo. Each delivering increasing power on demand. The bottom is used to display various user chosen information like Odometer, Max Speed, Trip Distance and and is flanked on both sides by four buttons: Reset, Power, Info, and Lights. There is a button pad inside the left grip that contains three buttons. From top to bottom: assist increase, information, and assist decrease. This bike is heavy, almost 50 lbs heavy. You don't want to ride this without the power assist. There is no audio or tactile warning that you are almost out of power. I plan on using this as my daily commute machine. It's nice to quickly get to work without feeling like I need to take a shower. This XM700+ has giving me the ability to rejoin the bike riding community. I'm looking forward to seeing the odometer clicking over the first thousand miles.
I use my xm700 E-bike to go to work, take short trips to stores . The great thing about the E-bike is that it is simply a fun way to get around towm . So far i have found nothing bad about that E-bike .
